JACK MCDONALD is a Director of Photography with an MFA in Cinematography from AFI Conservatory, and a BFA in Film & TV from NYU Tisch. Jack recently shot MOTHERWITCH, a Cypriot folk horror feature film, which had its world premiere at IFF Rotterdam 2026. His AFI thesis FISHMONGER played numerous festivals including Fantastic Fest, Sitges, AFI FEST, winning multiple awards including the YDA Gold Screen Award at Cannes, and was presented at CAA Moebius and WME FutureFest.
Jack's many award-winning short films as DP include COFFEE SHOP NAMES, licensed to HBO Max, which played at Tribeca X and won Best Comedy at Palm Springs ShortFest, and SONGBIRDS, featured in British Cinematographer magazine and YDA Gold Award winner. He shot three episodes of the Hulu series BITE SIZE HALLOWEEN, including SNATCHED, THE NEW NANNY, and GO TO BED, RAYMOND. Additional DP credits include EMBRYO (Palm Springs), OPEN WIDE (FantasticFest), MÖBIUS LOOP (Diversity in Cannes), RATED R (CAA Moebius), BUG BITE (AFI FEST), and LATE SUMMER DREAM OF FLYING (Camerimage).
Earlier in his career, Jack worked as Gaffer and Key Grip on many feature films, including as gaffer on the Safdie Brothers' GOOD TIME and Chloé Zhao's THE RIDER.
